Tony Hawk is Getting Stoked!

He’s known for his work in the halfpipe, but Tony Hawk is not just a high flier on ramps anymore. The original birdman will receive the Stoked Achievement Award at the 2nd annual Stoked Awards, presented by Toyota Matrix in New York City on November 12. Stoked Mentoring, the action sports non-profit organization behind the event, recognizes individuals for “developing successful teens through opportunity, knowledge, experience and determination.”
Hawk’s selection comes as a result of his own Tony Hawk Foundation, which since 2002 has been promoting and financing public skate parks in low-income areas across the country. So far they have contributed 2.3 million dollars to 390 skate parks! Other skaters like Chaz Ortiz have been getting into action with the THF as well. Congrats, Tony!
