Sacramento: Dancing M&M’s and Natalie Portman
Text and photo by Jake Anderson
Besides being home to Governor Last Action Hero, Sacramento is also home to some of the most devout party-goers I’ve seen since my days in Santa Cruz. Sacramento is like a So Cal city that got displaced by an earthquake and slid up north. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. In fact, it’s kind of charming. The kids there are always excited by all things Antics—our shenanigans, larks, rigamarole, balderdash, tomfoolery and even our capers.
We hit up a couple of spots there this last weekend, including The Press Club. It was our second time to visit this venue and once again the 11 PM hour saw a sprightly infusion of the 21-27 youth demographic. One group treated the night as a Halloween dry run, sporting M&M outfits that seemed but minor hindrances when it came time to run inside and dance to The Rapture’s “Sister Savior”. If you know this song and can imagine people dressed in M&M costumes dancing to it you will have no trouble understanding why I haven’t stopped laughing for two days. That and the fact that I received a dangerously potent electro-shock therapy treatment on Sunday after Natalie Portman broke up with me. Five years of love and passion, down the drain.
