Austin City Limits Day 2. Austin, TX.

I’m in our rented house in Austin… the A/C is blasting. My air mattress has deflated over the course of the 3 hours of sleep I’ve just had. Thorpe and I have been singing chewing gum commercials for the past 36 hours. Should I shower?? Shall I have myself a bowl of cereal and watch Saturday morning cartoons? On any other day, of course, but today is ACL day two, and I’ve got some music to see! When we finally gather the troops and get down to Zilcker Park (site of the three-day festival), it appears that the crowd has doubled!

A sea of people like this could only be properly described by Jacques Cousteau or Steve Zissou… let’s go Cousteau...**French Accent Begins Now** It is mid-afternoon. My crew and I have embarked on ze second day of our epic three day journey through ze sea of people zat is Austin City Limits. Ah! Pierre signals to me zat is time to dive in… -SPLASH- To my right… could it be? Fleet Foxes?...a folky blend of great guitars and beautiful vocals gently drifts me over ze waves to- no… it could not be… MGMT with a full band behind them? Magnifique! Let us quiet down for a moment and swim into ze cool, calm, and wonderful waters of Iron and Wine… but wait! A full band has formed behind zis act as well. Finally, we come across one of ze biggest and most mysterious creatures in ze ocean… Beck. Ze performance leaves nothing to be desired and ze sea of people happily drifts home. **French Accent Ends Now**

In other words, ACL Day 2 was pretty rad.

P.S. we saw Bill Murray at a Band of Horses after-party. Maybe I should’ve gone with Zissou…

Love,
