Antics in Vegas
Usually when go I to Vegas I plan on scouring the strip until sunrise blinds me and I scramble back to a hotel room on all fours, having lost money I don’t have at a craps table and eaten six times the amount of food my belly can handle at an all-you-can-eat buffet, but this last weekend our Antics team traveled to Sin City with the mentalities of freshly-winged angels.
Saint Augustine would have been proud of us (and bemused by the 20” rims on our Matrix). We set up shop at the Beauty Bar, where a score of strange but frenetic electronic bands—whose names, unfortunately, are not important and never will be—entertained the local villagers. We dazzled the dark alleyway outside the venue with a larger than life projection of Antics TV, while screen-printing tonally luscious blue on blue speakerbox shirts.
On Saturday we hit up the Double Down, where the roller girls entertained between raunchy sets by local hardcore bands. They sang about common human emotions, but in demonic voices. One heavyset biker asked: “What are they so angry about?” Good question, my friend. He went over to where all the hogs were parked and tore off into the night. There were at least a half dozen Harleys on hand. At the end of the night we raffled off a Rock Band system, but everyone was so obsessed with the festivities it was hard to apprise the winner of his winning.
P.S. We did indulge ourselves with a buffet at the Rio. Next time we go I’m hitting their $50 seafood buffet and I’m gonna eat four dozen oysters. Take that, Saint Augustine! Bam!!!
