The pro snowboarder from Belmont, Vermont has made South Lake Tahoe’s Sierra Resort her humble abode since snatching the 2006 halfpipe gold in Torino, Italy.

For the last 8 months, team Antics has been zigzagging across the nation like possessed tornado hunters, feverishly in pursuit of the Perfect Party. Here, party can be loosely defined as a gathering, cultural nexus, music festival, skating expo, art gallery, witches’ brew, etc. I mean, a hot dog eating contest can be considered a party so long as there is Peter Frampton music playing.
As we wave goodbye to 2008, it feels only natural to reflect and marinate in our own nostalgic tapenade. I thought about contriving a ‘12 Days of Antics‘, but then remembered that I hate Christmas (somehow I always manage to have an extended allergy attack), and opted instead for a more prosaic list. Out of the hundreds of events we put on, the following is a run-down of the top ten West Coast Antics affairs for 2008. You might want to fetch a bib to quell the drool about to distend from your open mouth!

The North Face and Apple launched a new free iPhone application earlier this month that will prepare snow addicts with up-to-date weather and map info about winter resorts around the world. The information beamed into your iPhone will be snow conditions with current and expected snowfall, detailed daily forecasts and wind direction and speed information. Who knew meteorology could be so gnarly?

Original Snowboard Art Festival launched its fourth annual online art contest with a global search for the frostiest original snowboard and twin-tip ski art. The Masterpiece in Motion (MIM) contest is a free game for amateur and professional artists alike. MIM is produced in association with the Telus World Ski & Snowboard Festival, the biggest annual winter sports festival in North America held each April in Whistler, British Columbia. For 2009, Original Snowboard Art and Masterpiece in Motion are casting a worldwide call-for-submissions for the best original visual art and graphics submissions for snowboard and twin-tip canvases.
